Alanna has worked in education for 30 years, teaching for most of that time. Specialising in History and the Humanities, she was responsible for planning, implementing and delivering History courses and running departments. Alanna has also run a very successful Film Studies department, taught Health and Social Care, due to her involvement in a range of awareness and steering groups in schools and been a pastoral year head. Deciding a change was in order, she left a job teaching A Level History in Cardiff to become a Houseparent at Cardiff Sixth Form College and when the new Head of House roles were introduced in 2018 she took on the role of Head of Franklin.
