Pastoral

Cardiff Sixth Form College prides itself on excellent pastoral care. All students at the College have a dedicated Head of House who is responsible for monitoring their progress academically and pastorally.

All Heads of Houses have a great many years’ experience of working in the education sector and are responsible for the delivery of PSE (Personal, Social Education), educating pupils in areas outside of their curricular studies such as E-safety, healthy relationships and the importance of maintaining positive mental health.

The Assistant Principal, Pastoral founded the CREATE© Portfolio, the college’s pastoral programme which has at its core the aim of creating learners who, whilst attaining academic excellence are independent, self-sufficient young adults with a genuine care and interest in others in the world. Each pupil individually picks three distinct wellbeing pathways working through activities and tasks in order to positively improve resilience, self-care and confidence.

By engaging in the portfolio, pupils gain an overall Bronze, Silver or a Gold award. The portfolio is a great way for students to learn more about additional topic areas that may affect their life outside of College and in 2019 this initiative won the Welsh Independent Schools Council Award for Wellbeing Initiative and CREATE© also won the ISA Pupil Personal Development Award in 2020.

This year students will also study a series of wellness modules in their PSE (Personal, Social, Education lessons) through the newly developed CREATE© Wellness Programme.
