Work Observation

Work Observation is a key advantage when applying to top universities and the College allocates two weeks every year in October and February for students to gain this experience.

Cardiff Sixth Form College employs a dedicated work experience co-ordinator to help students gain placements at a variety of professional workplaces such as GP surgeries, veterinary clinics, law firms, financial institutions and engineering companies.  Those who are studying healthcare degrees will often in addition need longer term placements such as working in old people’s home with patients suffering from dementia or nursery schools helping children with special needs.

International Work Placement

In addition, all students are invited to attend the International Citizenship Experience (ICE) programme, a unique work experience programme held in international destinations such as Malaysia, India, Tanzania and Europe every July.  The programme is designed to provide students with work experience and observation opportunities, to volunteer and help the local community, develop team building and leadership skills and develop cultural awareness.  Many students have commented on how valuable this has been not just when writing their personal statements for university but also in helping them mature in their thinking and inform career direction.
