CSFC’s Got Talent

Posted: 2nd February 2015

Our students have shown once again the have more than just academic abilitiy, as they perormed in the CSFC Talent show. For one night only, Cardiff Sixth Form College took over Hoddinott Hall, in the Wales Millenium Centee to provide a spectacular talent show. The night featured a cariety of talented artists and musicians including ballet, K-Pop and Beatboxing. The event was hosted by Mr. Hughes and Mr. Williams.

Acts performed not only in front of the student body but in front of a formidable judging panel including Ms Lau and, in the second half of the evening, Mr. Farzal.

First prize went to Somkiat Phutinart for his rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ on the piano. Starting with the simple tune he then introduced well known classical music as well as his own compositions. Somkiat received the only standing ovation of the night and it was well deserved.

Second Prize was awarded to Haziq and Natasha for their twist on the nutcracker; where they combined the classic ballet with Hip Hop to create an original and engaging show, even with only a week to practice.

Third prize was given to Lorata and Joe Wong for their acoustic performance of Justin Beiber’s ‘Love Yourself’.

A fourth act was also given the ‘people choice’ award, being voted for by the wider audience. The People’s choice went to K-Pop dance group ‘prestige’ that performed their own choreography.

Mr Hughes commented ‘I thought it was a really great night. How have I not heard Somkiat play the piano before? It was great to see the wide range of skills that the kids in this college have outside of their academic achievements’.

These acts will go on to perform at the Cultural Event in March.
