As a child I was drawn to maths and science which ultimately led to a PhD looking at DNA structure and hydration using x-ray and neutron diffraction techniques. My postdoctoral research years were spent studying single biomolecules using state of the art nanotechnology techniques. Following starting a family, I chose a career in teaching and have found it extremely rewarding helping students to build not only knowledge in maths and physics, but also more generally helping them to develop their own study skills to become independent, curious learners. For relaxation, my favourite night in is playing board games with my friends and family. Time spent outdoors is typically gardening, kayaking, stand up Paddleboarding or walking around the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. I also love to go to the theatre as a special treat. I’m very excited to be joining this fantastic new college that has recently opened in Cambridge.
