University College London’s Debating Society Winter School Cup

We would like to extend our congratulations to our students who participated in the University College London’s Debating Society Winter School Cup on Sunday, 24th November. The event featured four rounds of high-quality British Parliamentary (BP) debate. We are proud to share that each of our four competing teams secured at least second place in their respective debates, with Renny and Tofumi earning a well-deserved spot in the Top 9 Speaker Award, out of a total of 115 speakers. This impressive achievement highlights the exceptional talent and dedication of our students. Taking part in such prestigious events not only enhances students’ public speaking and critical thinking skills but also fosters teamwork, resilience, and the ability to engage with complex global issues. These experiences help to build confidence and develop vital transferable skills, setting our students on a path for success in their academic and professional futures. A big thank you to Gareth Davies, Sue Clemance and Robert Stuart for making the event possible!

Imperial College London Annual Festive Lecture

Our students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the Imperial College London Annual Festive Lecture, titled The Beauty of Falling, presented by Professor Claudia de Rham, Imperial’s Professor of Theoretical Physics. The lecture explored gravity, one of the most fundamental forces in the universe, and its role in shaping everything around us. Professor de Rham guided the audience on a captivating journey through the science of gravity, discussing its connection to the curvature of spacetime, and its importance in understanding the origins of the universe. As a leading researcher in gravity, particle physics, and cosmology, Professor de Rham shared her groundbreaking insights into the mysteries of gravity and its potential to unlock new truths about the universe. Before the lecture, our students enjoyed refreshments and had the chance to network with Imperial College London Student Ambassadors, as well as meet with staff to learn about life at Imperial College. This opportunity to interact with current students and staff provided valuable insight into the academic and social life at one of the UK’s leading institutions. Events like these not only inspire curiosity but also enrich students’ understanding of the real-world applications of their studies, encouraging them to think critically about the world and their place within it.

Charity Bake Sale

We are delighted to share that a team of dedicated CSFCC bakers and volunteers raised £191.70 for World Pneumonia Day through a fundraising bake sale. This event was organized to raise awareness and funds for pneumonia, which remains the leading cause of child mortality worldwide. The initiative was driven by the desire to take action and bring our school community together to support this crucial global cause. The bake sale not only provided an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful charity but also fostered a strong sense of camaraderie among students and staff. We are incredibly proud of the effort put in by everyone involved and would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to this successful fundraising event. A special thank you to our Charity Officer, Ms. Surensoy, the Boarding team, and the talented bakers: Renny, Claire, Daisy, Khanh, Tofunmi, Anne, Sanika, Arshin, Annie, Kathy, Judy, Chloe (Year 12), Tiffany. We would also like to thank our dedicated booth helpers: Renny, Claire, Tofunmi, Dubem, Zhi Xuan, Nathan. Your hard work and generosity made this event a resounding success!

Babraham Institute

We are thrilled to announce that some of our students’ academic posters were selected for the prestigious Babraham Institute Sixth Form Conference on Proteostasis (protein homeostasis). The Babraham Institute Sixth Form Conference offers students with a passion for life sciences a unique opportunity to experience an academic conference first-hand, stepping into the role of a scientist. During the event, students had the privilege of hearing talks from leading experts in dementia and vaccination research. The conference attracted around 100 attendees, including students, scientists, and industry professionals from across the region. Our students’ posters were featured alongside other impressive entries. This conference provided an excellent platform for our students to present their research, engage with experts in the field, and deepen their understanding of the real-world applications of their studies. Thank you to Peter Bull for supporting students with this fantastic opportunity for personal and academic growth.

CSFC Cambridge International Citizenship Experience 2025

We are excited to announce the launch of the CSFC Cambridge International Citizenship Experience for 2025, offering our students the opportunity to engage in two unique programs this summer. These programs, taking place in June 2025, provide students with the chance to gain valuable international work experience while immersing themselves in different cultures and landscapes. The two options available are:

Sri Lanka – Focus on Engineering: This program offers students the opportunity to develop their professional skills while contributing to businesses in Sri Lanka. Students will engage in hands-on projects with local companies, explore historical engineering marvels like Sigiriya and the Nine Arches Bridge, and apply their learning to solve real-world problems. They will also experience the rich culture of Sri Lanka through social activities and visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Tanzania – Focus on Medicine and Healthcare: Students joining the Tanzania program will  shadow professional doctors and nurses who provide free healthcare to Maasai communities in remote areas. They will gain first-hand experience in medical practice, assist with patient care, and develop key medical skills. In addition, students will explore Tanzania’s culture, enjoy a safari through Tarangire National Park, and take a hike to Materuni Waterfall.

Both programs promise to be unforgettable experiences, offering immense personal and academic growth through cultural immersion and professional development.
