Debaters Take Part in Friendly Competition with Local Rivals

As a new online initiative, Cardiff Sixth Form Debating Society organised an online debate with Howells School Debating Society, our local friendly rivals.  Six teams from each society took part in three rooms debating the motion: “This House Would Oblige Able-Bodied Bystanders To Intervene To Protect Victims Of Crime”.  There were winners from both Societies making this a very friendly, evenly matched draw.  This event also allowed novice debaters from both schools to experience a ‘real’ debating competition under the guidance of more experienced debaters.

A special thank you should go to the debate committee members of our college who acted as impartial judges, providing excellent feedback to both sides.  Also, an especial well done to Danielle who organised the whole online event using the Discord system.

We look forward to more friendly competitions with local schools in the near future.
