The impressive array of eminent speakers presenting their response include Professor A C Grayling who will look at a philosopher’s approach to difficult times, Lord Archbishop Rowan Williams who will discuss the spiritual response to crisis, Mr David Davies MP who will examine how politicians respond to crisis, Dr Kate Guthrie who will lecture on music that came out of WW2, Candida Cave who will present on self-portraits in lockdown, Dr Steven Pound who will evaluate the impact of COVID19 on the Higher Education sector, Pesheya Doubleday on the use of data to address healthcare crisis, Ieuan Rhys who will look at the impact of crisis on the preforming arts and Abbie Traylor-Smith who will demonstrate images of crisis.

As well as a series of lectures the event will also include a United Nations style debate between the students and other online activities.

Said Head of Cardiff Sixth Form College, Tom Arrand: “We are delighted to be hosting this year’s Renaissance Scholars Event which for the first time will be hosted online.  There is a really impressive line-up of eminent leaders in their fields ranging from spiritual and philosophical to financial, governmental and educational as well as two professional artists from the worlds of art history and photography.  The standard of intellect and debate promises to be awe-inspiring and is certain to help students find inspiration in these difficult times.  It is a very exciting initiative for us all to think about the situation we are in at the moment from different perspectives and the event promises to be thought-provoking, challenging and extremely entertaining.”
