Last week we were delighted to receive the news that three Cardiff Sixth Form College students received offers from University of Oxford for September 2021. Ellie, David and Sandy from our class of 2021.
Ellie received an offer to read Law at Mansfield College, University of Oxford. Ellie is a day student at CSFC from Pontypridd studying English Literature, History and French along with being a member of the Debate Society. Before enrolling at CSFC in September 2019 for her A-levels Ellie attended Bishop of Llandaff school in Cardiff. When asked how she felt after receiving the deserved offer Ellie said;
“I genuinely just feel really elated and relieved, and really glad that all my hard work paid off! My teachers have all been really supportive and invested in my application, which I really appreciate. I feel like Oxford will open a lot of doors for me in my future career, so this is a fantastic opportunity!”
David received an offer to read Medicine at University of Oxford. David is a boarding student who is proudly from Spain and was a part of CSFC’s first ever GCSE cohort. David began his journey with CSFC during the 2018 Academic Summer School programme, during his time in Cardiff during the Summer David successfully applied to study his GCSE’s with us returning in September 2018 and then again staying in Cardiff to begin his A-levels in September 2019. Upon receiving his offer David reflected that;
“I started in CSFC as a GCSE student wanting to study pure maths. Two and a half years later I am an A2 with an offer from Oxford to read Medicine. CFSC gave me the opportunity to discover a range of subjects as well as encouraging me to look into different areas of study via workshops, lectures etc. Hadn’t it been for this I wouldn’t have discovered my true passion, and for that I am really grateful. By the way far the best school there is!”
Sandy will be reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at University of Oxford. Sandy is from China and also started at CSFC for her GCSE studies in September 2018 and is in her third year of education with us currently after continuing with us for her A-levels in Chemistry, History, Economics and Further Maths. We are very proud to have students from our first year of GCSE teaching going on to the world’s top university.
Congratulations to Ellie, David and Sandy for their fantastic achievements.
