talk from dr erminia calabrese

On Thursday 31st January the CSFC Library hosted a talk from Dr Erminia Calabrese, STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellow and Lecturer at the School of Physics and Astronomy at Cardiff University. The talk was on ‘Our dark mysterious Universe’ – followed by a question and answer session. As a cosmologist, studying the impact of relic light from the Big Bang on the universe, Dr Calabrese’s expertise are widely sort after, and she is a member of the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, the Planck mission and the Simons Observatory. Recently, Dr Calabrese has become the UK national coordinator and the European deputy spokesperson for LiteBIRD-Europe – the proposed, Japanese-led mission to monitor Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) polarisation. The talk gave our students an opportunity to listen to and question one of the most high profile astrophysicists in the United Kingdom.
