Last week AS Biology students embarked on a journey to Bristol for the Biology department’s annual visit to Bristol Zoo, the fifth oldest zoo in the world! On arrival the students had the opportunity to look around the many fantastic zoo exhibits and listen to a number of keeper talks on a wide range of species.

Students were invited to attend a series of talks run by Bristol Zoo’s Education Department. These talks covered a number of areas which are required within the AS Biology syllabus such as classification and biodiversity. Students found the seminars extremely useful as they were able to look at these topics from a very different view point. They also very much enjoyed the hands on approach as we were able to come face to face and hands on with such animals as hissing cockroaches, albino corn snakes and a pancake tortoise.
