US-UK Fulbright Advisor Training Conference

On Friday, Miss Hayley Bendle (Head of Careers) and Dr Laura Foster (Careers Coordinator) attended the annual US-UK Fulbright Advisor Training Conference, centred around college applications to the USA. Held in London, guest speakers included Janet Irons (Senior Admissions Officer at Harvard University) and Keith Light (Associate Director of Admissioms at Yale University), to name but a few. Various sessions included how to write effective counsellor recommendation letters, how to write Common App essays and a simulated admissions panel to select successful entrants. On the Saturday, we also took a combination of AS and A2 students to attend the USA College Day with almost 200 US universities’ admissions specialists in attendance, all trying to promote their institutions and our students’ applications to them.

Miss Bendle says: “After a successful year of USA applications last year, with some of our 2017 alumni headed to Brown, UC Berkeley and Northwestern, we are now seeking an increased interest in applying across the pond. It is certainly an exciting time for us in CSFC and attending large-scale events such as these fairs only helps to support our students’ applications to some of the top universities in the world.”
