CSFC joins Dukes Education Group

Posted: 14th June 2017

Cardiff Sixth Form College is proud to announce that it has been acquired by leading education group, Dukes Education, combining the unique strengths of both organisations.

As you may already be aware, our college has an enviable reputation at the top of the school league tables, with 93% of students in 2016 achieving A*-A grades and 99% of students achieving A*-B grades.

For the past seven years running, we have also been awarded Top Private Co-educational Boarding School and Top Independent Sixth Form College, in the Education Advisers’ Awards (www.best-schools.co.uk).

Dukes Education, meanwhile, has an unmatched application success rate to Oxford and Cambridge universities, with 52% of its global long-term clients achieving entrance compared to an 11% success rate for international students generally and around 20% for all Oxbridge applicants.

Managing Director of Dukes Education, Glenn Hawkins (pictured opposite) – a former Cardiff teacher with a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Cardiff University, said: “It will be business as usual at Cardiff Sixth Form College, which has found a winning formula combining the rigours and discipline of an Eastern education with a Western approach that values individual creativity.

“Going forward, we will be investing in the facilities and the excellent teaching staff, who will be supported by Dukes Education and its consultants and tutors, 85% of whom are Oxbridge-educated. We have also been awarded Independent School status, making us one of the top Independent Schools in the UK.”

Principal, Gareth Collier – who has a wealth of experience of working in a number of schools across the UK – added:

“We are extremely fortunate to have the backing of Dukes Education, which is already familiar to us as it has been providing us with the highest quality educational guidance and support and helping our students gain places at the world’s most prestigious universities since 2010. Both organisations focus on providing the best possible outcomes for all students, supporting their families – many of whom are overseas – in the process.”

Dukes Education operates three other leading GCSE and A Level colleges in the UK – Fine Arts College in Hampstead, north London; Acorn House College, which specialises in the medical sciences, in West London; and Rochester Independent College in Kent.

Established in 1999, the consultancy arm of the business has since grown to over 2000 tutors and consultants, 85% of whom were educated at Oxford or Cambridge. They provide world-class tuition and university entrance support, specialising in helping students prepare to apply to the world’s leading universities such as Oxbridge and the Ivy League, as well as competitive degree courses like Medicine and Law. The consultancy has provided support to over 65,000 students from 126 countries and works closely with a network of over 400 schools a year to provide university preparation programmes.

Alongside its consultancy services, Dukes Education provides high-quality residential summer schools at some of the UK’s most prestigious boarding schools and the University of Oxford to students aged 8 to 17 from over 100 different countries each year.

The organisation’s senior consultants also travel to countries including Dubai, Bahrain, Malaysia, Singapore, China and Nigeria to work with international schools and private client families.
