With an academic curiosity for evolutionary biology and ancient civilisations, Dominic Fuge completed his undergraduate degree, at Durham University, in Anthropology and Archaeology. Whilst he did get to spend a month excavating in a Bronze Age cave of Southern Italy, after several experiences of digging in the pouring rain of Northern England, he realised that opportunities to emulate an Indiana Jones lifestyle may be less numerous than he previously thought. Dominic’s interests then developed into investigating the evolutionary underpinnings of psychopathology, leading to a master’s degree in the Psychology of Mental Health, at the University of Edinburgh. He subsequently studied Education, at the University of Cambridge.
Dominic started his career in education by teaching A-Level Psychology, whilst also working as a special educational needs officer, in a London state school. Moving to Oxford in 2019, Dominic’s roles expanded into designing bespoke careers and higher education provision for home and international students. He has held previous roles such as ‘Academic Strategy Tutor’ and ‘Senior Manager of the Supercurricular Programme’, before then being the ‘Head of University Engagement and Alumni Relations’, at Oxford International College. Dominic has a very broad experience of international education, having also spent two years guiding students and innovating strategy at England’s oldest International Baccalaureate school, St Clare’s.
Dominic keenly joined Cardiff Sixth Form College Cambridge, in 2024, as their founding ‘Head of Careers and Higher Education’. He has a proven track record of managing effective teams empowered to support careers learning as well as application success to destinations all over the world – including G5, Russell Group and Ivy League institutions. He will also be the first to publish an authoritative book on UCAS personal statements, reflecting the changes that UCAS implemented for 2026 entry.
In his spare time, Dominic enjoys the occasional horse riding and clay pigeon shooting. He also enjoys visiting local cafes and restaurants, living Cambridge’s la dolce vita.
