Cory’s Building – Living History

Posted: 8th July 2025

Cardiff Bay’s famous Cory’s Building was built in 1889 by the Cory Brothers, ship brokers and coal exporters operating in Cardiff since the 1840s. Built in the Free Italianate classical style, this beautiful building has an incredible history. Two storeys were added in the 1920s, as the pictures attached demonstrate. One hundred years later, Cardiff Sixth Form College is working with construction company BECT to repurpose this incredible landmark into a teaching block for our new campus, to be opened in September 2026. We are so proud to be a part of the history of Cory’s and the future of Cardiff Bay. We look forward to sharing updated images over the course of the next twelve months and to opening our new site in just over a year!
