Cardiff Sixth Form College Excels at Model United Nations Conferences

Students from Cardiff Sixth Form College have demonstrated outstanding diplomatic skills and public speaking prowess at a series of Model United Nations (MUN) conferences in early 2025. Representing a range of countries and tackling complex global issues, our students have consistently received accolades for their performances.

January 2025: St Paul’s Boys School, London

Ten of our students took part in the MUN conference hosted by St Paul’s Boys School, where 24 schools represented 37 nations. Special recognition was awarded to:
– Adrian (representing the USA, UNCST committee) – Best Delegate Speaker for his contributions on Future Pandemic Prevention and the Transition from Fossil Fuels to Renewable Energy Sources.
– Angie (USA, Economic Committee) – Highly Commended for her discussions on the Global Debt Crisis.
– Odera – Commended for being the most accurate delegate on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems and Drone Warfare.

Congratulations to all participants for engaging in this challenging and thought-provoking event.


February 2025: Bristol Grammar School

Thirteen of our students represented the USA, Brazil, and Vietnam at Bristol Grammar School’s MUN conference. They engaged in discussions on key global issues such as Peace and Security in Haiti and International Co-operation over Space.

Notable achievements included:
– Linda and Mune – Commended for their contributions.
– Odera – Highly Commended.
– USA Delegation (Jenny, Yuxuan, Rick, Odera, and Mune) – Highly Commended, achieving second place overall out of 48 countries.

This was a fantastic display of teamwork, research, and debate skills by our students.


March 2025: Kingswood School, Bath

Ten students attended the Kingswood School MUN conference, where 30 schools debated pressing international issues while representing 72 countries. Our teams represented the USA and India and took on complex geopolitical debates, including the War in Ukraine, China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea, and climate change.

Highlights from the conference included:
– Rosanna (USA) – Delivered an outstanding speech at the General Assembly, defending the US position before an audience of over 400 delegates.
– Odera (India) – Made a forceful and articulate speech at the General Assembly.
– USA and India delegations – Commended for their participation, placing joint third overall.

Well done to all participants: Colman, Mune, Sage, Rosanna, Zoe, Odera, Henry, Alp, Adrian, and Linda.

These successes showcase Cardiff Sixth Form College’s commitment to developing globally aware students who can confidently articulate and defend positions on international affairs. We look forward to even more achievements in future conferences!
