LSE Schools Debate

students from a sixth form college in Cardiff travelling to a debate

Three teams from Cardiff Sixth Form College travelled to London for this prestigious competition – one of the top in the country which saw 120 teams competing.

Our students can be very proud of their achievements on the day, having a combined total of winning 5 rounds and coming second in 3. Well done to Jane and Josh who came 20th overall. The motions were of the expected high standard for this level of debating, such as ‘This house believes that it is in the UK’s incentives to develop closer ties with China, at the expense of relations with the USA.

How did the students feel about the day? “The high standard of debating across the competition really broadened my perspective on the debating scene in the UK. It was a lovely day.” – Josh.

“We learnt a lot, not just about debating, but also about ourselves as individuals.” – Claire and Liza

“Our best debate so far!” – Mohammad and Shamim.
