three students attain gold in british physics olympiad

2019 has started strong here at Cardiff Sixth Form College with three of our students attaining the Gold Award in the British Physics Olympiad (BPhO).

We are incredibly proud of the students that did so well in the Physics Olympiad (Round 1). Three of our students placed in the top 100 in the country, which really is an amazing achievement. They will be sitting the Round 2 paper this afternoon (29/01/2019).

The BPhO shows a profound depth of development and skill in Physics along with a determination to solve hard physics problems. This paper is a challenge and is not an A level replica. It is a very tall ladder of skill, ability and preparedness, which students climb until they grind to a halt.

Students achieving a certificate of any colour in the BPhO are very able physicists.

Well done to all that took part.

Junyu Ren – Gold (Top 100)
Yuen Shan Ho – Gold (Top 100)
Zhaowen Jin – Gold (Top 100)
Raksina Phongsermsuk – Gold
Zezhen Wei – Silver
Liuliu Li – Silver
Sherry Lu – Bronze I
Elson Mo – Bronze I
