Steph Richards

Stephanie Richards assumes the position as Head of Mathematics at Cardiff Sixth Form College (CSFC) from September 2021 having joined the College in September 2016. Steph graduated with first-class honours in Mathematics from University of Wales College Cardiff and after a spell in Accountancy with Coopers and Lybrand Deloitte, started teaching in a large South Wales Comprehensive school. Steph has held management responsibility as Head of Mathematics for most of her teaching career and has extensive experience teaching all ages and ability levels with a particular interest in Further Mathematics. Steph has many years working as a principal examiner, team leader and teacher representative with the WJEC Examination board at GCSE and A level.

Steph brings energy and passion to the mathematics department and dedicates much of her time to the development of resources that stimulate and inspire learners. Having researched at master’s level “The Pedagogy of ICT in Teaching and Learning” Steph places a strong emphasis on using computer resources to their best advantage, blending online with classroom teaching, and promoting an interactive, collaborative learning environment that facilitates independent study. Steph’s ambition has always been to be Head of Department at a Centre of Excellence in Mathematics where students are stretched to exceed their maximum potential and learn to share her love of Mathematics. She is delighted to be fulfilling this ambition as Head of Mathematics at CSFC.
