Work observation and volunteering is an invaluable part of university applications and career trajectories. High-level universities and employers look for more than excellent grades. Proven work observation is a great way to distinguish you from the crowd. Cardiff Sixth Form College strives to offer its students comprehensive and valuable work observation – and we are proud of the placements we have already achieved.

Cardiff Sixth Form College employs a specialist Work Observation Coordinator, who arranges work observation opportunities across a range of disciplines. Observational placements are provided in a wide variety of contexts including hospitals, GP surgeries, pharmacies, dental surgeries, veterinary clinics for those considering medicine. We are able to secure placements with law firms, financial institutions, insurance companies and banks for students interested in legal or financial degrees. We also arrange cooperation with engineering companies.

Students, as well as employers, gain a lot from work observation placements. It is important for students to gain an insight into their chosen career path so that they can decide whether it meets their expectations. Additionally, the chance to see a working environment in action can encourage students to excel in their studies and produce outstanding university applications.
