Economics work experience on the ICE Malaysia programme

Posted: 4th July 2017

Our International Citizenship Experience (ICE) programme student blog series continues with an account from Russian student, Kristina Abraamyan, regarding her first day of work experience in Kuching, Malaysia.

“Today was the first day of our work experience. I went to Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). My overall impression is that people there are extremely friendly and approachable. I was based in the property department, where they told me about the process of buying/selling property. They mentioned rent collection as well. Right after the talk, I was taken outside to check out the bought buildings and organisations that pay rent to SEDC.

In the afternoon, our group got together and we were taken to the hotel that belongs to SEDC. They showed us the rooms and talked about the benefits of the location of the hotel in terms of economics.

So, after the first day, I feel quite excited about the coming trips to other properties, since it will give me an opportunity to ask more questions.”
