Cardiff Sixth Form College is delighted to announce the launch of its new International Citizenship Experience (ICE) programme.
The ICE programme replaces and builds upon the former Goodwill Ambassador Programme (GAP) by introducing new destinations for students to visit, and offering a greater variety of work experience placements and sight-seeing attractions for students to benefit from.
Students will be provided with numerous valuable opportunities and skills, including:
- Work experience and observation – placements in a wide variety of exciting institutions relating to future career options
- Understanding of working practice and conditions – private enterprise, government institutions and charitable/voluntary organisations
- Team-building – knowing your team well, understanding your preferred roles and becoming aware of the strengths and weaknesses leads to greater efficiency and achievement
- Leadership – observing leadership in action in working institutions and having the chance to undertake leadership opportunities helps to build leaders of the future
- Cultural awareness & interaction – mixing with and meeting people of different nationalities, social backgrounds, employment fields and experience bases allows a greater understanding of equality and opportunity globally
- Personal development – expanding horizons, challenging opportunities and performing outside your ‘comfort zone’ leads to increased confidence, maturity and personal awareness
The ICE programme will provide students with the option to visit either India or Malaysia, in June/July of each year. For 2017, both programmes will run from Thursday 22nd June until Saturday 8th July.
ICE India will involve visits to New Delhi and to Pune, Maharashtra, where medical students will benefit from work placements at institutions such as Rao Nursing Hospital, Ruby Hall Clinic and Care India, in addition to sight-seeing attractions such as Aga Khan Palace, Lotus Temple and India Gate.
Meanwhile, ICE Malaysia will see students specialising in various disciplines visit both Kuching and Kuala Lumpur, where they will engage in work placements spanning different industries at organisations such as Sarawak General Hospital, Azmi Law and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation. In addition, the students will enjoy visits to popular local destinations such as the Petronius Twin Towers, Batu Caves and Sarawak Cultural Village.

We’re rolling this out in order to provide students with invaluable opportunities for super-curricular activities, work placements and cultural exchanges, in a diverse range of global destinations.”
