A Cardiff Sixth Form College student has been commended by the British Council for achieving the best Additional Mathematics and Economics Cambridge International Examination (CIE) IGCSE results in Nigeria last year.
The British Council is the UK’s international body for cultural relations and educational opportunities, and this is the first time the organisation has highlighted outstanding academic performance in the Cambridge International Examination (CIE) IGCSE exams.
Tabitha Balogun, a Year 12 Nigerian student who formerly studied at Greensprings School (Lekki Campus) in Lagos, has been invited to attend a prestigious award ceremony this week in Nigeria in recognition of her phenomenal achievement.
Unfortunately, she will be unable to attend as she will be in the UK on the date of the ceremony, but her parents – who have written to the college to share their joy at hearing of Tabitha’s success – will be there to proudly collect Tabitha’s awards on her behalf.
Speaking about how it feels to be recognised by British Council Nigeria for her excellent IGCSE results, Tabitha said, “It feels amazing to be recognised after so many months of hard work and dedication.”
Upon hearing of Tabitha’s achievement, Principal Gareth Collier remarked, “Tabitha is a delightful person, as well as an accomplished student, who has thrown herself into life at CSFC and is gaining enormously every day.”
We would like to congratulate Tabitha on her fantastic IGCSE results, and wish her the best of luck in her studies during the rest of her time at CSFC, and beyond.
