LAMDA students congratulated for excellent results

Posted: 4th April 2017

On behalf of all staff and students at Cardiff Sixth Form College, we would like to congratulate all London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) students for the outstanding results they achieved in the London Academy Public Speaking examinations recently.

Between them, our LAMDA students gained an impressive 10 Distinctions at both Silver and Gold levels. It is very challenging to attain distinctions at this level and these students thoroughly deserve to be recognised for their hard work.

Special accolades must be given to Saikrishna Nadimpalli, who achieved a Gold Medal at Grade 8 with a score of 90, and Claire Williams, who achieved the highest score of 95 (Gold) at Grade 7. Meanwhile, congratulations must also go to Hannah Yusuf (94), Kristina Abraamyan (93) and Sarah Love (93).

Subjects tackled ranged as widely as honour killings and euthanasia, to world poverty and environmental affairs.

Perhaps the most difficult yet beneficial aspect for the students, aside from writing and performing speeches to a professional criteria, was the Impromptu – the ability to write and perform an unknown speech in 15 minutes, to detailed advanced criteria. This requires much practice including correct application of modulation, breath, voice and speech production, in addition to the ability to create and prioritise relevant rich content to a synchronistic, logical development and finish. Our students gained an unprecedented level of skill in this area and we applaud them for this.

All of our students have worked tremendously hard over the course of three months in order to achieve these unprecedented results – well done to all of you!
