Careers Day - a student perspective by E-Wen Wong On the 16th of April, CSFC hosted our very own Careers Day. The admissions officers from established universities, namely Bath, Birmingham, UCL, Peninsula, Brunel, New College of the Humanities, Bristol, Cardiff, Queen Mary and Hull's school came down to meet us personally and to give us talks, mainly to introduce their universities, the courses offered in each, student life, together with entry requirements and admissions processes specific to certain courses, such as medicine. The day began as Mrs Sarwar introduced the 12 universities represented in the Hall. Each university had set up its booth in the exam hall for us to meet them personally. From 10am-3pm, the admissions tutors took turns to give talks about their universities. Throughout the day we also visited the various booths to meet the representatives, and they were very helpful in answering our many queries. This enabled us to form our overall impression of the universities as well as understand the application process. The admissions officers were very warm and receptive to us, and even gave us tips on how to manage the UCAS and Personal Statement. "I found the careers day to be an insightful experience. I went there in the morning with a list in my head of all the universities I wanted to apply to and a vague knowledge about them but returned with a thorough understanding of the application process and many useful tips on university application.", Karima said. On the whole, the event was most insightful and truly an invaluable experience for all who attended.
