The Techniquest Science Centre held a Gene Technology event for A level students.This 90-minute workshop is an excellent introduction to how organisms can be modified through genetic engineering. Students enjoyedmaking a petri dish of bacteria glow green under U.V. light. They thentransformeda culture of E. coli with a green fluorescent protein gene taken from a jellyfish. Theculture was taken back to college to watch it grow and glow.
