Our Approach
Cardiff Sixth Form College is one of the Best Independent Colleges in the country. Based in the city of Cardiff we are fully committed to providing a safe and personal solution to your educational needs.
 |
At Cardiff Sixth Form College, we make every effort to ensure that the tuition provided matches the needs of the students. It is essential to promote the joy of knowledge and learning, whilst simultaneously maintaining the sharpest possible focus on the demands of the examination.
|
-
Not only are tutors chosen on the basis of their subject knowledge, but also on their dynamic approach to teaching. Many have also been examiners so they know exactly what will be required from their students.
-
We believe that tutors who communicate with enthusiasm are essential, allowing learning to be both interesting and enjoyable.
-
The relatively small class sizes and intensive tuition mean that all students are given personal attention.
-
Where additional tuition is necessary, it is available on a one-to-one basis.
-
We believe in attention to detail. We regularly check Examination and Board requirements to ensure that students and tutors are following the current examination specifications and options.
-
Some of the teaching is exam-focused with students receiving regular topic specific examination practice in addition to sitting mock exams in December and April. By testing students regularly on their previous work, we not only ensure their full understanding of their subjects but build their confidence for the final exams.
-
A highly organised teaching programme, underpinned by regular written homework and timed tests, leads to successful outcomes, given 100% commitment, attendance and punctuality on the part of the student.
-
Study techniques are fully integrated into teaching:- revision skills, testing oneself, note taking, critical thinking, skim-reading, memory skills and time management.
-
We encourage students to aim to achieve the highest grade possible in their modules, making it easier to obtain the recently introduced A* in their A-Level.
-
The College has had the Best A-Level Results in the UK in 2010 & 2011.
