Applying to Cardiff Sixth Form College

At Cardiff Sixth Form College, we know that it is difficult to choose which college to study at for one of the most important qualifications of your life. When choosing, it is vital that you know what the college offers in terms of courses and also the type of support available for every obstacle which may crop up during your course. At Cardiff Sixth Form College, we allow you to explore just that.

We ask for prospective students to visit us at the college, so that we can be familiar with the student's goals and achievements. Parallel to this, you have the opportunity to explore the college itself and decide whether the environment is for you. You will also have an opportunity to speak to the principle to discuss any concerns you may have about the college or about general advice. All our members of staff are experienced in advising about universities and the application process, so you will have all your questions answered, and additional advice given.

For the purpose of understanding what you want to achieve, we do require you to bring any previous qualification results and to give us a synopsis of what it is that you want to achieve. Following this, we can have a plan of action at the ready to help guide you the rest of the way. I assure you that you will find that college has a supportive environment, with your best interest at heart.

Upper Sixth Form Applications and Resits

In terms of our admission policy, we are very fortunate to have a wide range of students from different backgrounds which may also include students wishing to resit exams or qualifications. This can be for a number of reasons, one of which is unsuccessful applications to universities for the course of their choice. At Cardiff Sixth Form College, we provide excellent support and advice for these students for whom the choice of universities is much narrower. Obviously, it is important that we explore the exams the student has taken and the marks achieved along with syllabus compatibility. Only after this can we make a decision about the feasibility of this step, but generally, there are no problems as many exams boards have similar learning outcomes.

Many students transfer from other colleges midway through their course which is also possible. Again, the main issue is the syllabus compatibility, which can be solved to the flexibility of the different exam boards.
